It’s High Time For Quotes!
At the beginning of September, I started reading a new book for my pleasure reading sessions. The book is entitled “To Kill a Mockingbird” and it was written by Harper Lee. So far I’ve read a little bit more than 100 pages and I can already say that I enjoy this book more than the previous ones (especially “The Girl on The Train”).
While reading the first part of the book, I came across one fascination quote.
Until I feared I would lose it, I never loved to read. One does not love breathing.
This quote belongs to the main character of the book and her name is Louise Jean a.k.a Scout. She is talking about how she takes reading for granted. She has never thought that her ability to read was something important. She has never paid enough attention to it. The comparison of reading to breathing only proves it. It seems to me that the author wanted to tell us reading comes as easily and naturally to Scout as breathing. To my mind, it’s impressive because we know that Scout is pretty young.
The quote grabbed my attention because it’s very deep and wise. Many people, like Scout, tend to take many things for granted. They rarely appreciate what they are given. And how devastated they become when it’s taken away from them. That’s why I’m sure that it’s important to acknowledge all the good things we have in our lives and cherish them because nobody knows what may happen in the future.
