GRE 1

Today I had a spare hour and decided to devote it to an engrossing and useful app called Memrise (I chose the Hard Words for GRE course). Though I had quite an ambitious plan to learn 30 words, it soon dawned on me that I would not be able to absorb all of them, so I quit (I am not as competitive as AlexandraS) and focused on assimilating the ones I had already ‘learned.’

Now I would like to share with you the words that caught my eye.

Stalemate is a contest, dispute, in which neither side can gain the advantage. (SYN. deadlock, impasse)
Fatuous is preposterous (SYN. outrageous).
Debilitate is to vitiate, undermine.

Honestly, I savored the hour I spent working with the app and will surely continue learning new sophisticated vocabulary on my own.
