Even More About The Olympics

I watched the best moments of the 2012 London Olympics via the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHbyr7xoORM, and recognized some sports featured in the video such as: athletics, fencing, rowing, judo, shooting, gymnastics (still rings, floor exercises), swimming, water polo, beach volleyball, boxing, cycling, karate, taekwondo, horse-back riding, archery.

Besides, I learned more about the coming Olympic games in Tokyo. The Japanese capital will hold the summer games for the second time in the history of their country. The games will take place from 24 July through 9 August 2020. The organisers of the event claim the Olympics will be “the most innovative ever organised, and will rest on three fundamental principles to transform the world: striving for your personal best (achieving your personal best); accepting one another (unity in diversity); and passing on a legacy for the future (connecting to tomorrow)”. Frankly, I’m extremely excited and full of anticipation of the “brand new era” of the games. It’s going to be legendary!

I also read a few articles about the games and the preparation for them. The first article was about volunteering. It was amusing to learn how many people applied for participating in the volunteer program. According to the Tokyo organizing committee, a total of 204, 680 people from Japan and some other countries have applied for taking part in the program. The age of the volunteers ranges from teenagers to people who is in their 80s. It’s clear that a lot of people long to help run the event. And their will is awarded and the organisers are ready to help them become skilled enough. Some orientation sessions for applicants will start in February 2019 and end in October 2019. As for those who are not residents of Japan, orientation for them will be held between March and July 2019 via video calls particularly.

You are welcome to watch the following video related to the discussed topic.

Then I read the second article which was about test event schedule. It’s like the grand rehearsal before the games for everyone who is involved in the games to minimize any technical problems. A lot of testing events have been already held and a lot of events are going to be tested in the following months.

Moreover, from the article I learned a cathy slogan of the games: “Ready, Steady, Tokyo”. It expresses the excitement that is raising as the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020 edge closer.

That’s all for now.

Thanks.
