Day 4
Well, I’ve finished listening to Steve Jobs’ speech. And I’m disarray, because, on the one hand, I’m jubilant that I finally got to know it, but, on the other hand, I’m dejected as I’ve already watched it and I cannot receive such emotions one more time. It is an inspiring speech that I am truly touched. It gives me some strength and confidence to live my life just the way it should be, and in the way I need it to be. Moreover, realization that Steve Jobs is dead superinduce this a whole new meaning and brings me into a new reality. The reality of choices, belief and death. Living life to the fullest is the only way forward. I’m more than sure that every person should one in life listen to the speech.
Below I’ll leave some parts of Steve’s speech which I want to memorize. The thought are precious.
“Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don’t lose faith.”
“You’ve got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.”
“Because almost everything — all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure — these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.”
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”
And I want to share with you some interesting words from the speech:
Diverge — to follow a different direction, or to be or become different
A falling out — an argument
Dawn on sb — if a fact dawns on you, you understand it after a period of not understanding it
Sedated — avoiding excitement or great activity and usually calm and relaxed
Besides, I started reading a book named “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” by Jonathan Safran Foer (frankly, I don’t like it so far, but I’m going to read it tomorrow to find out I will read it a day after tomorrow or not) and I watched… I lost track of a number of episodes that I’ve watched, so let’s call it…several, yes, I watched several episodes of HIMYM. I LOVE IT!
That’s all for now.
