3 ONLINE RESOURCES
With such a spectacular abundance of online resources for studying English and working with data, it may be quite a challenge to decide on what to use to improve your English. Today, I’d like to share with you a few online resources I personally can’t do without.
1. ONLINE DICTIONARIES

https://www.merriam-webster.com/
Frankly, I favor monolingual dictionaries and use them daily because they provide more comprehensive information about the target language. For instance, a dictionary includes several meanings of polysemantic words, shows numerous examples of how the word is used in context, etc. Therefore, it’s easy for me to see whether the word I think of is suitable for the context I want to place it in. On top of that, working with such a resource expands your vocabulary and enhances expressive skills because you learn how to explain words in their language.
Aren’t online dictionaries marvelous?
They certainly are!
2. CORPUS OF CONTEMPORARY AMERICAN ENGLISH (https://www.english-corpora.org/coca/)
I discovered this invaluable online resource only a year ago; however, it has already grown on me though the database sometimes gives me hard times. I mostly utilize COCA to look at frequency patterns of words (whether the words I want to use together collocate), grammar constructions, and, again, authentic contexts the target word occurs.
3. QUIZLET (https://quizlet.com)
Quizlet is a handy tool for everyone to learn words via flashcards, quizzes, and engrossing games. To my mind, it works well as a study method if you like technology and can stay off social media while using it.
